Two artificial intelligence (AI) innovations developed by subsidiaries of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. (CNMC) were recently recognized as outstanding achievements by China's State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the State Council.
The 2026 World AI Conference (WAIC), themed "AI Partnership for a Brighter Future," was held in east China's Shanghai from July 17 to 20.
At a WAIC forum on high-quality AI development in enterprises, the SASAC unveiled a list of outstanding achievements in strategic high-value application scenarios and high-quality datasets for industrial applications from state-owned enterprises (SOEs) directly administered by the Chinese central government.
The AI-powered intelligent ore grinding scenario, developed by CNMC's holding subsidiary, China Nonferrous Hong TouShan Fushun Mining Group Co., Ltd., was selected as a strategic high-value application scenario.
Leveraging technologies including big data, machine learning, expert rules, and advanced process control, the solution enables closed-loop intelligent production management across the entire process of "perception, decision-making, control, and optimization."
The solution has delivered significant improvements in cost reduction and operational efficiency.
The dataset for diamond wire saw bead image recognition and defect inspection, created by China Nonferrous Metals (Guilin) Geology and Mining Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of CNMC, was selected as an outstanding achievement in high-quality datasets for industrial applications.
The high-quality AI-powered dataset for diamond bead quality inspection, based on industrial vision hardware and deep learning algorithms, was built through five key stages: data collection, governance, annotation, evaluation, and application.
The dataset not only trains models for the precise detection of surface defects and dimensional accuracy of diamond wire saw beads, but also enables self-optimization of production lines through continuous incremental learning and Statistical Process Control (SPC)-based analysis of process-quality correlations, marking a transition from quality monitoring to quality prediction.

In recent years, CNMC has actively responded to relevant authorities' calls for accelerating AI applications, and advanced its digital and intelligent transformation initiative across the board.
It has established an ecosystem for innovative AI applications covering the entire group, and accelerated the transformation of traditional industries toward greater intelligence, sustainability, and integration.
Going forward, CNMC will leverage this recent recognition by the SASAC as an opportunity to further promote the development of its "data flywheel" and "AI flywheel" through its advantages in application scenarios across the entire industrial value chain.
By fostering synergy between data and AI models, CNMC will make greater contributions to the integration of AI applications with industrial scenarios and the high-quality development of the nonferrous metals industry.
